A bachata party that celebrates Dominican and Latinx culture through music, dance, and community building!

Bachata y Mofongo is a gathering that brings bachata back to its roots, community, music, food, and shared moments.

Inspired by the culture surrounding bachata in the Dominican Republic, this event is not centered around performances or partying. Instead, it recreates the feeling of a true bachata gathering: people sitting together, enjoying good food and drinks, listening to bachata, and dancing when the moment feels right.

The space is designed to feel relaxed and welcoming, with room to dance, but also plenty of space to sit, eat, talk, and connect. Whether you come to dance all night, share a meal with friends, or simply enjoy the music and atmosphere, the intention is the same: to create a place where the community can slow down and experience bachata in its most authentic form.

It’s a celebration of bachata not just as a dance, but as a culture of gathering.

JEM (formerly Fusion Experience) is the first & longest-running Queer Salsa/Bachata event in NYC. Founded in 2022, we are an Afro-Latin Dance Social that breaks Gender binaries by providing a safe & comfortable space for LGBTQ+ community/Allies to learn from Afro-Latin dance and other art forms. JEM stands for Joy, Education, Movement. Our goal is to provide a workshop/dance social and learning community that goes beyond movement while hiring artists that value intersectionality, safety, and diversity within art and movement.
