Growing up in a Dominican household, bachata and merengue have always been a part of Angely’s life. Angely has always felt gravitated and connected to the music and different dance forms of her culture. Apart from dancing in her kitchen and occasionally at family parties, she had no other place to express her love for the dance. Then, she discovered the world of bachata social dancing. Angely started to take some of her first bachata classes with Amargue Flow in October 2022. Since then, she has dedicated her time to mastering the fundamentals of bachata and discovered her unique dance style with Amargue Flow. Additionally, Angely trains with Desiree Godsell’s AnD Formation bachata team and travels to the Dominican Republic to train from the best bachata instructors in the country. Throughout her time at Amargue Flow, Angely has taken the Amargue Flow teacher and leadership training course making her a certified bachata instructor. Angely currently teaches Level 1 bachata classes at Amargue Flow NYC and her own classes in New Jersey. Angely focuses on building strong fundamentals, playful movement, and helping dancers build confidence. Apart from teaching, she is passionate about building community which inspired her and co-founder Beverly, to create Dame Tu Pasito, one of NYC’s only traditional socials . Dame Tu Pasito is a bachata party dedicated to uplifting and celebrating Dominican culture through music, dance, and community building. Angely graduated from Montclair State University with a bachelors in Family Science and Human Development. When she is not dancing, she works at a school as a Full Service Community Coordinator.
