About Me

Margie Montes is an accomplished Salsa and Bachata dancer, instructor, and director with over 15 years of experience in the NYC Latin dance scene. She began her Salsa On2 journey in 2007, training under renowned instructors and institutions such as Eddie Torres, La Salsa de Hoy, Salsa Salsa Dance Studio, and Antonio Doza. In 2011, she expanded into Bachata, developing her craft with Island Touch, Alma Latina, and Mi Esencia. As a Bachata instructor, Margie has performed and collaborated with leading teams and studios across New York and New Jersey, including Empire Mambo NYC. She is also an experienced team director, having led and developed programs with Alma Latina, Empire Mambo, and NJ Salsa. She currently directs Mi Esencia teams in both New York and New Jersey. Margie’s passion for dance has taken her across the world. She has traveled extensively throughout the East and West Coasts of the United States, as well as internationally to Mexico and the Dominican Republic, teaching, performing, and sharing her knowledge with diverse Latin dance communities. In addition to her work as a performer, instructor, and director, Margie is the founder and event organizer of The WkNdR, a celebration of Latin dance culture that brings together dancers, instructors, and social dancers through workshops, socials, and community-driven experiences.
